Review and discussion of suggested changes from Meeting 1

  1. GPA capture - needs a descriptor, as identity is not fully derivable from properties

  2. Course reference from CourseTranscript - selete the reference

    • Allow ability to reference state codes to clearly distinguish those from local courses that will never be offered

    • Allow CourseCodes to be an informal join of the entities

    • Clear scope for the Course ownership

    • Possibly the optional reference

    • Can EdOrg as an SEA work? (think authorization problems in the API).

  3. Credit summation – need some kind of “credit areas” entity where courses can be grouped.

    • Or possibly use Courses "tagging" l – another option

  4. Distinctions / badges on transcripts - this is a need

    1. alignment to other standard is a concern

      1. IMS comprehensive learner record – has an “assertion” + “authority”

      2. PESC?

    2. Some codes are state or local

  5. No discussion of API for a complete Student record

  6. Course Transcript indicators – yes, some kind or tagging is needed, probably based on a descriptor

    1. Look at PESC standards on this

  7. Letter grades as a descriptor?

    1. Might be a problem for transfer transcript grades where the descriptor does not exist

    2. Need a grade mark table of some kind to get to the semantics

    3. Pass/fail is the only universal attribute
