How to compare last year’s data to this year’s data.
Beginning of the Year and End of the Year procedures for state’s ODS/API
Alliance doesn’t have anything documented at this time.
Kathleen prepared a list (see Agenda ) based on her prior experience of implementing for an SEA (see meeting PPT)
Some states have multiple SY ODS’s running at the same time. Turn off only the one of interest.
Vermont - We allow districts to revise 3 years, need to have prior 2 years open.
Kathleen - will have other states that have done so to connect with Vermont.
Mike - proper documentation and knowledge transfer when talking with MSP/SI
Call these out as part of deliverable when negotiating contract with MSP/SI engagement.
Success Team Services
Expanding definition of support
Proactive Support - beginning to end, planning Ed-Fi implementation architecture design
Reactive support - technical support
Success Portal
Academy and Knowledge Base
Proactive Support
Kansas - interested in Mini staff training.
We are working with vendor on fields that don’t align with Ed-Fi standards.
Would like to have a walk thru.
many of these would have been fantastic for our process at the beginning.
Vermont - this is a pretty good menu to choose from for support.
Vendor and community connection - don’t know necessarily the role of CST.
We talk to EA weekly.
Kansas
Ed-Fi has a whole section that works with SIS vendors to help states.
Several SIS reach out to Ed-Fi in reverse path - good value.
Having RFP and best practices would be good to review.
Guidance on proper Ed-Fi API usage - use consistently.
Mike
We get a group of customers for a SIS for requests and make a common ask to the SIS.
Future topics
Validation - yes
Vendor Certification
Mapping
LEA Engagement
Utah
In Utah’s case, we are working with the LEA vendors in the next few months, coordinating the release of API to them. We would like to discuss how to engage with the SIS and small vendors.
We would appreciate any feedback from other states.
Kansas - Sample of questions to ask vendors
Heard at a Summit session.
Kathleen - do you have a list of questions that you have?
Kansas - no; but thought it would be good to have after hearing about it at the Summit.
Kansas
Guidance to vendors on how to engage
Vermont
Multi-year ODS management
Kathleen - do you mean single year ODSs all open at the same time.
Vermont - yes
We normally open previous2 year as their own data collection period
2 -week window; not open all the time
In VT, it’s a state law to give 2 years to get funding to be corrected over time.
State updates
Kansas
Challenge to review mapping from Ed-Fi to CEDS, to send to our data warehouse (CEDS IDS and CEDS data warehouse)
Not easy to make the switch.
VT -
We can share what we have done for CEDS mapping.
in the IDS, it’s not transactional way, not stored normalized way.
CEDS IDS vs RDS
Staging table clear to people working on transactional.
Still in sandbox environment for vendors
Utah
Integration with CEDS - Mark is looking at this as well; would like to talk with other states.
Vermont - interested in talking to Duan Brown
Finance side - demo chart of account, have end points for LEA, local budget and local actuals.
On track to release to first set of vendors in the next month
