SC Requirements

  • SC can allocate an hour per week to work on the model (mapping) with Sayee and Ed - first meeting would look at what Josh has worked on. 2-3 meetings until requirements are further along. Would be good to see what differences and similarities SC has with other states. First meeting to be scheduled for next week. Ed, Sayee and Nicole meet offline.
    1. Dan wants all the data wherever possible to land it in Ed-Fi.
    2. The public Prek information is coming from districts SIS (PS) to CEDS.  See the SC requirements link above.
    3.  The first part of Ed-Fi work is to land the public pre-k work in Ed-Fi.
    4.  We need to analyze the data elements, compare it with the CEDS model, compare it with other states’ approaches and design a common model.
    5. The other data from  First Steps and Head Start partners is very new to DOE and to Revenue of Fiscal Services.  We don’t know the shape of the data.
    6. The plan for SC is to have a Federated System at the Revenue of Fiscal Services (RFA) and land the First Steps and Head Start data.  The data could be very deep at the RFA level.  Maybe a subset of that data will come from RFA to SC DOE Ed-Fi.
    7. The next mapping sessions will focus on landing the public pre-k info from the SIS to Ed-Fi.
    8. There is also DSS’s voucher program information that either comes to SC DOE or they want to collect it.  We don’t know the shape of that data.
  • Describe SC’s participation in the collaborative exchange of data with other SC state agencies and SC early childhood programs.
    • Need to determine what information the different programs want to send and to what level they want to go within that information
    • Want to define at what level mapping needs to be done within the different systems.
    • Within First Steps they are building a new data system and also determining what data elements they want mapped to Ed-Fi (dedicated staff - Chelsea Richards whom we can work with on client level data including Head Start and assessments)
    • Note: work being done in Texas with early childhood assessment vendors may be helpful to SC
