Notes
Several items from May were covered and closed - see the meeting deck for more info on the status.
Validations API
One TAG member voiced interest in implementing, but noted it would be 2019 at earliest. No TAG objections to circulating the concept to the community as-is
Certification de-composition
The TAG revisited this idea. On the idea of how to filter out vendors asking for more narrow certifications, the concept was raised that the filterĀ should be holistic from the vendor offerings within the K12 marketplace . I.e. a SIS vendor could only ever certify as a SIS vendor. This was the suggested correction from the prior concept of allowing a vendor to certify on a narrow spec IF the vendor could demonstrate they are doing business in that fashion in some agency.
Reiteration of difficulty of using multiple certification marks in the community was raised again - more narrow certification can serve to confuse agencies as to what is actually possible.
Areas of likely de-composition were discussed as well; those raised were:
- Finance
- Special Ed modules
- Discipline
- Gradebook
- College and career readiness
The question of how to de-compose was raised? By resource? By domain? The current thinking of the Alliance is by domain, but those domains need to correspond to pre-existing product boundaries. This will take some time to work out in practice.
Events API
Time was allocated to review questions re the plans published in the May meeting. No TAG members commented. It was noted that the window on comments is closing rapidly as the work is under development.
Special Interest Groups
The Temporal ODS SIG has room for 1 more TAG member, if there is interest. For more info on the T-ODS SIG, see the Technical Congress deck or other docs from the Tech Congress materials under the session Multi-year Data.
Long tail of Data roadmap items
See slides in meeting notes - Long tail data" plans were reviewed. More time will be allocated in July for discussion.
The importance of adding information on the inspection of HTTP traffic for API integrations was noted by one TAG member. This is also possibly a technology feature, as it has been built into several implementations to date.
