Early Warning System - Teacher
Summary: As a Teacher, I want to have an “Early Warning” of students trending outside desired goals, aka “At Risk” students. This helps with indicating students to be watched and or evaluated for assistance.
Actor: Teacher
Current State: Do we have a an “Early Warning” report or visualization of students trending outside desired goals, aka “At Risk” students over time? [time frame e.g. over a school year, over three years, over last year]
Future State:
The “Early Warning” system updates with data on specific set of indicators on all students or a specific groups of students that may be heading towards problems. “Superintendent” retrieves the aggregated information of the students “At Risk” under his district for determination of additional staff to support. This data supports discussion with school board for funding. “Principal” can retrieve aggregate data of school exempted absence due to school activities to show the correlation between student achievement and school participation. This data supports funding for student activities. “Teachers” would be able to drill down into a specific student’s data to evaluate whether an instruction plan is having an effect on their success and student grades, assessment results and growth data juxtaposed or at least within the same application to more easily evaluated success of their teaching plan/approach.
