Agenda/Meeting Notes

  • Introductions
  • Updates on model plans
    • Excited about credential library
  • Reminder: Use of JIRA tickets to surface items for model review/changes, questions, implementation questions
    • Relationship of TPDM, Teacher Prep Dashboards, Dashboard work group vs TPDM Work Group
    • Official version to be on exchange - finalizing document - purpose of dashboard Work Group to provide input to UPD on what to focus on in the future to further develop the resources and an actual tool to be used in implementation
    • Next meeting - asking for input into direction for future versions/updates to the dashboard
    • Can we get a demo to look at data behind it -- as mapping want to make sure to map to visualization -- get a session?
      • There is some doc, but can do a session before or after next session (open to anyone)
  • Performance measures/goals versus staff evaluation

SA: yes, this is a type of assessment - discussed with Ed-Fi core modeling team. Similar conversation that Survey is like an assessment, but that is not necessarily true

This is a better fit for the community, outside of student assessments. May expand assessments in the future. For now, assessments are for students

With a person model, you can use this for students also

Excited to see this is broken out into individual areas, will serve a lot spaces well

  • Credentialing elements - Need to track in-progress, not just completion
    • Credentialing library

TEA sent Steven sample data, as we continue to look at this that is what it looks like in our systems

    • Can we add a descriptor namespace for state to state or tpp to tpp specific credentialing?
      • SA: have not yet considered - Rosh can submit a ticket
      • Compare from tpp to tpp
      • Shared descriptor set could help with efficacy studies we are doing with TPDM
    • Is there any way to add a flag to educator records to explain how there may be gaps in their processes that led to their certification?
      • no, but we can def look into adding
    • Really excited about both of these tickets but haven't looked at them enough to have additional questions yet
  • Human Capital Metrics SIG
    • Add Jon Carter and Cathy Malerba
      • I think that process is in the steps of being stood up, but also a partnership with districts where they define their own standards. As a state we are not setting parameters but validating the parameters given to us by districts
      • Would like to be able to track are rotations in trainings. Preparing people for the next role
      • As we have been looking at talent management it was suggested that we look at examples of virtual charters. Anyone here involved with virtual charter?
      • Jon C know two charters in MA that he could put you in contact with
      • UCONN has made transition to online learning through summer and into fall. As we are doing admissions process we are being faced with an urgency to move our assessment and coursework protocols into teams platform. Creates opportunities for us. Digitizing all assessments. Would like to understand impact offline to online. Moving these projects forward. Increased focus and urgency in data standards
      • Cohort of students form grade to grade at k12 level. Negative impacts on this type of learning
        • Loss of in person feedback for student teaching - will not have face to face teaching activities.
        • Viable use cases. Observe and track impacted students - negative impact of the pandemic
        • NS: raised those issues, district - interesting research question, but probably not looking at that impact short term. Losing 2 months might not make a huge difference for incoming teachers next year, maybe it will add PD
        • Consider how metrics for virtual learning map to traditional metrics
