- Welcome and introductions
- Update on co-chairs and subgroups
- Mark Olofson, TEA, serves as a co-chair and serves on the Ed-Fi Governance Advisory Team (GAT) for TPDM
- Tiffany Fernandez, Relay GSE, serves as other co-chair and will help facilitate the Work Group meetings and communications
- Subgroups – right now, the Technical Subgroup is up and running. They’ve had a few meetings to discuss items. We’ll get a report from Steven in a few minutes.
- We do have a Model Review Panel made up of Ed-Fi staff and contractors that look at the impact of possible changes to the TPDM and Ed-Fi Core model to determine to determine feasibility and options
- Questions or comments from previous meeting
- Update: Ed-Fi is talking about creating Slack channels for each Work Group to facilitate communication between meetings
- Group thought that was fine
- Asked that Agenda and Meeting Minutes be shared there and via email (not just tech docs)
- Shout out!
- UTRGV hosted a successful Data Day with College of Education faculty, district partners and administrators. They unveiled the first set of Ed-Fi TPDM powered teacher prep dashboards. – they are the first institution to implement the teacher prep data model and have been an amazing partner through various ups and downs.
- The Tk20 API passed acceptance testing processes and is about to go live with UTRGV data – as we work through remaining hiccups
- Update: Ed-Fi is talking about creating Slack channels for each Work Group to facilitate communication between meetings
- Ed-Fi Summit update and details
- There is still time to register for the Summit (you can find information on the website at ed-fi.org)
- There will be 3 TPDM-specific sessions:
- Monday, 9/30 at 11 – a panel with current pilot project leaders talking about TPDM implementation;
- Tuesday, 10/1 at 1:15 – Cari from UPD and Alma from UTRGV will discuss the connection between pre-service and in-service data; and
- Tuesday 10/1 at 4:30 – Cari will demonstrate the teacher prep dashboards, and we’ll hear from LEA representatives on how they look to use TPDM for talent management and teacher evaluation
- TPDM Work Group meeting on Sunday, 9/29 from 3-5 at the Hilton. We’ll have speakers for call-in participation
- Sponsored happy hours most evenings, including Sunday
- TPDM model overview from Steven
- Release 3.0.5 is complete
- Release 3.0.6 –necessary changes for Tk20 handling of multiple sites for teacher candidates
- Tentative cut-off for changes to the model for October release: mid-September
- Question: are new releases contained in TPDM extension or do they also affect Ed-Fi
- Mostly TPDM, some Ed-Fi Core.
- Eventually, want release to be limited to one per year. Right now, releases might be quarterly or more frequent
- Survey domain will possibly go to Core
- Technical subgroup update and discussion
- Teacher Candidate/Staff Reference to Survey Question response
- Surveys sent to graduates and their employers
- Grads – ask about quality of preparation; Employers – ask about effectiveness of graduates. Candidates at exit – ask about quality of preparation
- Employers refer to individuals hired as 1st year teacher
- Surveys sent to graduates and their employers
- SEL – interested in Survey Domain. Interested in teachers fill out survey about students – need information on teachers and students
- Alumni – need to add to TPDM. There is a flag on teacher candidate that he/she has completed program. But programs send surveys to alum too.
- Important to capture alum/program completer, also it's possible for someone to complete multiple EPPs. Could be teacher, principal, superintendent, etc over time. Also, in TX, people can go to EPPs for additional qualifications, certifications
- Need 1 part of domain for Place, 1 for Progression through various programs.
- Undergrad – advanced certification – track Superintendent as alumni separate from how a person is progressing
- Can be a product of different programs over time. Track history of progression
- % of students who return for advance certification is different from current placement or 1st placement
- Might do principal prep at a different place than teacher certification. So they’d be alum as principal prep, but didn’t do their teacher prep program (not a TPP completer) at the school
- Level of data available for person in each scenario might be a problem
- Need to be clear on terminology
- Alum = grad, completer accounted for in model
- Alum = complete any program at any time, always an alum, but Program Completer = might have ended a program multiple times over the years. Do you want first time completed a program or multiple?
- Can be an alumnus of an institution but never went through College of Ed or EPP…and still became a teacher through a different program. That person is an alum, but not a program completer, so it’s important to distinguish the two terms and types of data points.
