Overview

State Assessment Non-Participation metrics show a percentage and count of students who did not take the state assessment, along with the reason the student did not take the test. This information can be used by educators and administrators to understand which students should be enrolled in make-up tests, and which have valid reasons (e.g., foreign exchange student waiver, alternate assessment administered) for not participating in the test. In addition, many states have requirements around participation rates, so this information is useful to campus and district leaders to measure their current status against accountability mandates.
