General Guidance

Academy Component Capitalization

Capitalize specific instances of Academy components, otherwise use lower-case. Examples:

  • It's capital-C Course 104, but The Academy has several technical courses...
  • It's capital-M Module 01, but The modules in Course 104 are designed to...

Course Listing Style

Generally, use the form Ed-Fi 101 - What is Ed-Fi? when referring to a course. This is the course title in the Academy Course Catalog, and is used in lists of courses, inline in text, and most places. On second use in a given context, it's okay to use the course code as a standalone title (e.g., "Ed-Fi 101").

Academy courses also have a course code taking the form Ed-Fi 101. It's okay to use the compact form where space is at a premium. For example, the prerequisites for a course might appear as Ed-Fi 101, Ed-Fi 104, Ed-Fi 105.

It's totally okay say formulations like "The prerequisites for this course are Ed-Fi 101, 104, and 105..." in voiceover, but avoid using the number without the "Ed-Fi" prefix in on-screen text.
