Agenda

A subgroup of SIS SIG met to discuss ideas for driving better alignment of state standards to Ed-Fi.

Notes

  • The concept of a “state score” was discussed as a possibility but the group decided not to go in that direction initially because of the potential sensitivity to states of being judged.

  • However, it was acknowledged that the core issue is that there needs to be a way to surface the value and need for better alignment to state leadership, as partly the issue is that staff doing the data governance and implementation in states are responding to pressures to keep costs low, which can result in states keeping aspects of their current specifications

  • Instead, the participants suggested a clear list of “DOs” and “DON’Ts” be created that could be used by the vendors and others to refer states to and as a way of reinforcing expectations.
