Problem

The source data standard contains elements that are similar to elements that have already been mapped in other mapping projects.

Solution

Use the auto mapper feature to scan other mapping projects for similar elements that have already been mapped to the target data standard and import those mappings as applicable.

Discussion

The Auto Mapper can provide a helpful starting point to mapping two standards. It primarily looks for matching names and paths and suggests mappings between elements. However, it's capabilities are limited. To understand the tool in more detail, please consult: User Guide - Mapping Helper.

The Auto Mapper may be used when creating a new project or in an existing project.

When creating a new project, select Create Project with Auto Mapper.

To accept the suggested mappings, click Project With Results.

For an existing mapping project, click the Actions tab and click Run Auto Mapper.

Click Run Auto Mapper and review the suggested mappings.

To accept the suggestions, click Add Results to Project.
