Problem

The source standard element does not map to any existing target standard element.

Solution

Mark the item for extension or omission using the mapping method drop-down menu.

Discussion

During a mapping project, not all items will align. Some items in the source standard may be identified for potential extension in the target standard or may be otherwise omitted for implementation. 

For an item that you would like to mark for extension in the target data standard, choose "Mark for Extension" from the Mapping Method drop-down menu.

Enter the details about your proposed extension(s) in the "Mark for Extension" text window and update the workflow status to indicate that mapping is complete for this item.

For an item that you believe should be omitted from further consideration, select "Mark for Omission" from the Mapping Method drop-down menu.

Provide any notes to explain why the item is not applicable to the project and update the workflow status to indicate that mapping is complete for this item.
