Agenda/Discussion

  1. Subgroup Updates:
    1. User Experience:
      1. Reviewed Latest Draft of Student Discipline and Discipline metric
        1. https://techdocs.ed-fi.org/display/RVWG/User+Experience+2020-01-15+Meeting+notes
        2. Student Discipline Use Case v5 1-15-2020
        3. Discipline Reporting Views 1-12-2019 v4
      2. feedback on  how to best tackle Incident Severity
        1. Happy: major/minor distinction varies based on vendor
        2. Kimiko: overlap major/minor behavior in one incident; how to identify combination
        3. Rosh: in IN, state requires recording of certian types of incidents
        4. Happy: how to record multiple behavior/discipline in one incident/event; current report reflects as multiple based on behaviro
        5. Chris: have place holder for local solution; the Analytics Middle Tier could potentially be extended in order to leverage the existing infrastructure while extending it to meet this particular need; not get into data model as a critical item;  see ticket
    2. Tech Evaluation: Only two people showed up (Chris Sprague and Ignacio Ybarra), so we didn’t have a full session but we need to schedule a working session for Stephen Fuqua to do a Deep Dive on AMT
      1. https://techdocs.ed-fi.org/display/EFTD/Version+2.0+Requirements+and+Design
        1. Stephen: review meeting notes and asked for comments
        2. concerted effort with MPV; provide synergy for requirements with middle tier
        3. Billy:  noted that he had provided feedback/questions to Stephen in the comments section of the Confluence document for the Analytics Middle Tier; Stephen also responded to some of the questions/comments to create some dialog
    3. Ed-Fi Dashboards: First meeting since August! So we had a lot to talk about and the group is working on talking to LEA’s.
      1. https://techdocs.ed-fi.org/display/RVWG/Ed-Fi+Dashboards+2020-01-17+Meeting+notes
        1. Glynn: reviewed meeting notes
        2. Happy: suggest Erin Middleton from Los Alamos to participate in LEA interview
        3. Glynn: to help to move subgroup work - nomination of districts, recommendation of UI review
        4. Chris: Ed-Fi dashboard; broader set of interviews
  2. 2020 Goal: Share MVP with the Ed-Fi Community during the Summit
    1. Billy: goal is ambitious but doable
      1. Dashboard use cases will help; propose additional view to power MVP proof of concept
      2. Biggest step is to build things up to middle tier
    2. Rosh: instead of teach presentation at Summit, suggest presenting a framework based on district experiences which provides list of questions to ask the schools/district what data they need and how they are used
  3. Chris replacing Itzel as Ed-Fi Liaison

Action items

  • Rosh Dhanawade  - write up a paragraph regarding framework to present at Summit
  • Stephen Fuqua  - connect with the Technical Work Group to provide a bit of a deeper dive into the analytics middle tier's architecture and how it could potentially be expanded on an ad-hoc basis to cover other use cases (e.g., incident severity).
  • Ann Su  - schedule next series of meetings thru Summit
