The Managed Providers Special Interest Group (MPSIG) will convene community members focused on the pain points and priorities of providers of Ed-Fi technologies in Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PAAS) offerings. These providers are key to the adoption and growth of Ed-Fi. They provide agencies with deployment choices, they expand the community by reaching more many agencies, they can reduce complexity in implementations for agencies, they can differentiate data interoperability and analytics offerings, and they can prioritize "time to marketvalue" to help agencies realize the benefits of interoperability more rapidly.  

  1. Define pain points that Managed Providers experience in implementing Ed-Fi technology and making it available to community members as productized offerings. 
  2. Provide input into and feedback on the Alliance’s work to support CCMR use cases in the data standard and technology through delivery of a CCMR-focused starter kit.
  3. Discuss the current source data availability to answer these CCMR questions.
  4. Confirm priorities in the college, career, and military components of CCMR.
  5. Confirm end user roles that will benefit from using the CCMR Starter Kit.

Context

In today’s global economy students are facing higher expectations and competition for college and careers. To ensure student success and economic mobility for all, schools’ learning pathways must be aligned with expectations for what constitutes readiness for college, for career and workforce, and for military service upon graduation.

Several key issues have been identified:

  • Varying state requirements for CCMR
  • The need to bring together interoperable data from SIS's, from assessment providers, possibly from other institutions, and possibly from students
  • The need for metrics that allow secondary school staff members to assess groups of students and individual students' readiness, or on/off track status as early/proactively as possible
  • The need to make this data actionable, so that school staff can prioritize offerings, support, and interventions to bridge gaps in CCM readiness
  1. products and roadmap especially as it relates to deployment, automation, security, management, and other priority concerns.
  2. Discuss ideas and opportunities to unblock managed providers in ways that help them scale their offerings.

Meetings are tentatively planned for May - June 2022. 

Context

Managed Providers are critical to the growth of Ed-Fi reaching a tipping point in overall adoption in K12. Therefore the Alliance seeks to understand what helps and hinders Managed Providers' capabilities and use of the Ed-Fi technical suite, and priorities we can act upon to unblock growth and successful implementations for the agencies Managed Providers serve.
