The Collaboratives Work Group (CWG) is an entity within the Ed-Fi Governance structure and is intended to enhance LEA collaboratives’ (and on behalf of member LEAs) engagement in, input into and use of the Ed-Fi data and technology standards.

The goals for the Work Group include:
- Prioritization process: Establish a process forum for identifying and prioritizing potential Ed-Fi data model and/or technology enhancements most needed to positively impact Collaboratives’ collaboratives’ capabilities to onboard and serve LEAs , facilitate with priority LEA use cases; facilitate vendor support for data exchange to/from key vendors applications for those LEAs, ; streamline downstream reporting data use such as state accountability reporting, ; and provide right-sized solutions for small and rural LEAs up through larger medium and more technically capable LEAslarge LEAs with a range of technical capabilities.
- Improved interoperability: Enhance the ability of collaboratives to integrate systems and share data in a secure ecosystem for (within) LEAs, across LEAs, and with SEAs where applicable.
- Improved reporting: Enhance the ability of collaboratives to provide compelling tools and solution choice for the purposes of analytics, reporting, and data visualization, serving as a Data As A Service type of offering for members LEAs.
- Privacy and security (across multiple use cases) Include?
- Impact of collaboratives: Enhance the capabilities of collaboratives to impact the whole Ed-Fi community, not just their region. Foster rapid adoption and field feedback of new versions, releases, testing and incubating of RFCs, and development of new field-validated use cases to drive maximum value and impact for LEAs and the community at large.
- Best practices: Document and contribute back to the community the best practices that have worked for your collaborative.
- Shared development: Identify, prioritize and pursue projects that can be developed and shared by collaborative resources.
