Minutes:
Agenda item #1: There were approximately 20 attendees and brief introductions were made around the room.
Agenda item #2: Attendees were reminded that all materials, artifacts, etc. that are shared through the TPDM WG are subject to the Ed-Fi Community IP disclosure policy, and that this is intended for everyone’s protection.
Agenda item #3: Rick Rozzelle provided an overview of the Ed-Fi Alliance governance process. No questions were asked.
Agenda item #4: Members were asked to identify others who might be interested in participating in the TPDM WG.
Agenda item #5: An overview was provided of the current pilot implementations: Relay Graduate School of Education, US Prep, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Tk20. The Texas Education Agency expressed their interest in establishing TPDM in order to leverage the TPDM interoperability and provide data back to Educator Prep Programs (EPPs) for continuous improvement purposes, as well as to help them with state reporting. It was noted that other State Education Agencies (SEAs) have expressed interest in TPDM to assist with licensure & certification data, particularly Nebraska.
It was noted that we plan to have active subgroups to address both technical and non-technical/general questions, in addition to a subgroup focused on the Collaborative Dashboards. In time as the group expands, we hope to have subgroups addressing teacher prep program (TPP), SEA and local education agency (LEA) issues as well.
A question was raised about the possibility of connecting TPDM to testing companies who assess teacher certification, such as Pearson and ETS. TPDM staff will follow up on this.
A question was raised about how to deal with TPDM JIRA tickets and whether/how this group will address them. TPDM staff are still developing a plan for determining which tickets are brought to the Work Group’s attention. Assume some will go to the technical subgroup. Should have the process established by the Ed-Fi Summit in September 2019, but in the meantime, members are asked to continue to submit JIRA tickets as needed.
Agenda item #6: Work Group members were advised of the dates for the Ed-Fi Summit in the fall and asked to arrange travel so that they can attend the Work Group meeting on Sunday, September 29 from 3-5 Central.
Agenda item #7: Work Group members were asked to review and comment on the draft charter document before the next meeting. They were also asked to identify the subgroup in which they would like to participate.
Agenda item #8: Next Steps
- Send out draft charter for review and comment
- Send out poll to set next Work Group meeting date and time
- Solicit input about which subgroups in which each member would like to participate
