Agenda/Meeting Notes

  • Update on TPDM v0.8 model and release
  • TPDM Data Ingestion Research update
    • Link to findings: https://techdocs.ed-fi.org/display/TPDMX/TPDM+Data+Ingestion+Research
    • Question:  how does that account for the uniqueness of each institution?
      • NS: we will have to work with that university to do the specific mapping for each university
      • CM: Still have to go through enum identification?
      • NS hope that most of what we have would work, but there are unique implementations of the SIS, so they would probably need to do some override. Hopefully could still make it faster than manual mapping
  • TPDM Starter Kit project to help with visualizations
    • Question: what is the timeline?
      • NS: Hope to be completed by the end of October
      • SA: centered around documentation around how to set up ODS, set of visuals with PBI. Meant to be lightweight to understand start to visuals
  • TPDM Non-technical Support Services
    • Data governance bootcamp, Readiness webinar, Data Sharing Agreement templates and tools, Project Health Review checklist
    • Bootcamp is geared towards EPPs this time, limited to 5-7 EPPs. Artifacts will be available in a repository this fall hopefully
  • Review of Priority Use Cases
    • Field assistance to document data sources, metrics, data elements needed to address those use cases
    • Willing to participate in a few meetings to discuss and document?
    • Discussion:
    • Question: Is the goal of the questions to be predictive analyses? Is that what is trying to be established here?
      • NS: Each EPP determines its own analyses. The model includes data that can be used in either summative or predictive analyses, as the institutions needs
    • Request: needs volunteers to help us document/map data sources and elements to the model. Nancy and Steven will work with volunteers on the mapping
    • Post-graduation use cases - is there any place for that in priority, exciting thinking about progress of program. Our TPPs are called to understand what happens after they leave. Makes me wonder about outcomes in the field (post completion).
    • NS: Yes, a post-completion use case was identified. Right now, Ed-Fi is focusing on two were EPP specific. Some were just LEA, some just SEA, some all three.
      • How do we connect teacher prep to in service placement so we really get longitudinal information. Have been having a lot of conversations around what does an LEA implementation of TPDM look like - how do we get data flowing back and forth.
    • The Holdsworth Center is working with  two districts working now. Hoping to develop a dashboard that looks at teacher performance
    • Yvette Johanson: WI  (K-12) is just starting to think about which of these questions will be important to us, not sure we are ready to jump in at this point yet, a cross agency group will start up in Sept to start to formulate questions to answer.
    • David Roth - Schusterman Foundation - Columbia university - question around clinical practice
      • Focus on content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge
  • No labels
