Notes

Introduction to Tech Docs - Ed-Fi Tech Design page which provides data model background and design issues for community feedback.

Course transcript issues

Issue with making course reference on CourseTranscript

  • Some states are in a year-base model; some courses are no longer part of the model and cannot be referenced.

  • Identifiers need to be local - making them state-based or rely on external data elements is inviting issues

  • On making the reference optional: hesitant to make standards less opinionated. Small LEAs tend to have unusual practice and smaller staff for maintaining data integrity.

Section as unconnected to courses/coursework

  • Non-standard courses; multiple courses associated with the section; adds burden to manage courses. LEA sections = scheduling whereas Ed-Fi sections = courses.

  • See notes made directly on

DATASTD-1596 - Getting issue details... STATUS

Improving native Ed-Fi descriptors

  • Ed-Fi descriptors missing definitions

  • short descriptions and long descriptions are all the same.

  • Would like system for how descriptors can be aligned to other standards. Makes it easier to adopt.

  • Operational context data
