CCMR SIG 2021 Close Out
Dec 1, 2021
Over 30 community members participated in the CCMR SIG in Q3 of 2021, studying and discussing numerous challenges in the overall CCMR category of use cases, including the variety of state and local requirements that exist for many agencies across the country. We greatly appreciate the time and expertise of these members! We held two large group meetings and then 5 additional small group breakout meetings to drill into the pain points surfaced by the SIG from both the agency perspective and the solution provider perspective. All notes are published in the CCMR SIG space.
We ran into a fundamental and persistent problem: how to navigate and support multiple state and local definitions of CCMR requirements, in order to provide a universally practical and useful data-based CCMR use case solution across all of those state/local contexts, without adding yet another partially helpful tool onto busy HS counselors' plates (which is already the experience and workload they have today). After much deliberation from those 7 deep dive sessions and our own internal strategic meetings to evaluate the suggestions from the SIG, we could not identify 1 clear universal direction to take that would make for a compelling, useful, and straightforward to implement starter kit for the broad benefit of the community.
However, a promising direction to investigate has arisen in our other field work: digital course transcript storage and exchange. We have begun the due diligence and field validation of that work and would like to share what we find with this group to get your feedback on its usefulness to you as you support your learners, staff, and parents, and for solution providers, your agency customers. Thank you in advance for your continued engagement on these topics!
In the meantime, if you have any other feedback to share, please send it to Sean.Casey@ed-fi.org and David.Clements@ed-fi.org . We appreciate your time and expertise and willingness to come together to study an important area in our community's work.
