Notes & Discussion Highlights
1. Data Standard 6.0 (RFC 27) – Community Feedback Needed
The group reviewed the proposed changes in RFC 27(b), which streamlines handling of Identification Codes, Contact Information, and Demographics.
Community sentiment was cautious — most participants requested more time to understand the implications before offering feedback.
Action Requested: Please review the following resources and submit comments by July 30:
The next Data Standard Working Group meeting is Thursday, July 24 at 11 AM CDT.
Any other comments or questions, please send to Maria.Ragone@ed-fi.org or Stephen.Fuqua@ed-fi.org
2. Uniform ID: Exploring a Shared Identifier Across Registries
We visited on the concept of leveraging Uniform ID Framework from 1EdTech for vendors to reduce duplication and improve data traceability.
No requirement proposed at this stage; this remains exploratory.
Consensus from the group: A real use case or value proposition must be led by a state agency or data hub before community support could coalesce.
Vendors expressed that this is not currently seen as a priority problem or blocker for implementation.
3. Security & Certification (Continued from June)
Draft plans remain under review to include third-party security verification in Ed-Fi Registry listings during certification.
Community feedback still welcome on:
What kinds of controls (e.g., MFA) to highlight
Best practices for bulk credential generation/distribution
Whether Ed-Fi should build tools to support credential workflows in states without portals
4. Preview: August 19 Agenda Topics

Share interface differences between Ed-Fi ODS/API and DMS
Address SIS vendor questions and offer sample sandbox environments
