Replacing an Existing Course

Replacing an Existing Course

Below is the information on how to fully replace a course in Docebo, and ensure that those who have already completed it will still get credit for completing. This is for when we need to test out a new version of a course in parallel with the existing course rather then update in place, generally it means a major change in course content.

  1. Log into Docebo

  2. Navigate to the “Course Management Section”

  3. Find the course you are going to replace and click on the “…” menu at the left side

  4. Click on “Duplicate”

  5. Change leave all the settings at default and click “Next”

  6. Under “Advanced Settings → Catalog Options” ensure you have selected both “Show the course only to enrolled users” and “Self-Enrollments are not available”

  7. Under “Advanced Settings → Equivalences” click “Add Equivalences”

  8. Choose “Mutual equivalence”

  9. Choose the course you are replacing

  10. Add only those you want to test the course to the Enrollments tab and then Publish the course for them to review

  11. Once the review is complete you will set the original course to “Under Maintenance”

  12. Now you will need to click on the “Enrollments” tab

  13. Click on the “+” sign in the top left corner, and then click “Import users from course“

  14. Choose the original course you are replacing

  15. We want to choose only the users that are currently in status “Enrolled“ or “In Progress“

  16. The enrolled users will be enrolled via a background process. This can take up to 15-20 minutes

  17. Once the users are all enrolled you need to open the course for self enrollment. Under “Advanced Settings → Catalog Options” ensure you have selected the following “Show the course in internal and external catalogs”, “Self-Enrollments are available”, and “Self-Enrollment”
