Dashboard POC’s
Chris reviewed the intended plan for dashboard POC that will be undertaken by ESP solutions
The goals of this project are:
Demonstrate that a technical modernization of the Ed-Fi dashboard UI is viable.
Provide a framework for estimating the cost of modernizing the entire Ed-Fi Dashboard.
Provide a hand off to a subsequent project that will explore how to replace the existing Dashboards ETL/data pipeline and security mechanisms with an approach that is integrated with the Analytics Middle Tier.
The scope of the project is illustrated below (Phase 1)
Rosh provided an update on the Dashboard project they are doing.
Move to Apache 2 license, in https://github.com/orgs/Ed-Fi-Alliance-OSS. This assumes the Alliance has a long term intent to maintain the dashboards past the current Suite 3 generation
There was a general consensus to leave the current Dashboards as part of the legacy Ed-Fi license (and repository) unless/until there was a plan for continued investment in them - by either the Alliance of a 3rd party.
Focus RVWG on establishing general best practices and "playbook" for reporting and analytics using the Ed-Fi stack (Rosh's idea!)
Propose a revised approach for the technical sub-group, that includes (a) taking a dependency on the Ed-Fi Analytics Middle Tier and (b) proposing to work with Ed-Fi technical team & roadmap to build out a POC of the infrastructure to support the MVP.
Rosh has started a draft document for revising the charter.
RVWG members are encouraged to review and comment on it, and we will plan to finalize at the next RVWG meeting, and then submit to the Governance Advisory team for review and approval.
