Overview
When course contents (Storyline files, text files, or MP4) are being loaded to Learn DashDocebo, instructions on how the files are loaded are identified in the course final scripts.
Scripts Instructions
In the scripts, the 'Section' and 'Lesson' headers indicate the labels and structure for the 'Unit' and 'Lesson' levels of the side nav:
Each 'Lesson' is marked with the info the developer needs.
- Content type
- Whether or not it is a group activity
- Location
- Time estimate
See the Ed-Fi Academy Strategy spreadsheet 'Taxonomy' tab for the possible values for each.

The scripts should also include:
- References to the workbook slides for activities. While the scripts often contain draft instruction text for the activities, primarily for the content team's benefit during reviews, the workbook slide decks are the authoritative version of the activities. The slide decks include the more polished language and a rough sketch or description of what the activities should look like. Where activities appear in the script, the script should reference the appropriate slide number and deck.
- Indications of when an activity is recalled from a prior lesson. This is important if the user's input from an activity from one lesson is revised or revisited in a subsequent lesson, and the developer needs to surface the user's responses. The slide deck can include additional detail and notes for the developer to describe what should be recalled and how it should be displayed.
- Notes about resources to link/include. These items will be included in a resource menu below the main content frame on the page. Typically, the content should also mention these resources and point users to the resource menu.
- Any other notes needed.
To hand materials off to the developer, create a Trello ticket that includes:
- A brief description of what is being handed off
- Any relevant notes
- Links to scripts
- Links to workbooks
- Links to Storyline files
- Links to resources that are used in activities or the resources menu
Code Snippets
For text-based courses, be sure to note parts of the script that should be displayed as a code snippet. Code snippets should be copy/pasted in such a way that does not include any extraneous HTML tags or characters e.g., the
space character. The easiest way to prevent this is to copy/paste the snippet from the script doc to a plain text editor first.
